New Camera, New Pictures

I've been contemplating buying a digital SLR for awhile and finally took the plunge a little before Christmas. For those not familiar with the term, a digital SLR is a high-end digital camera that can take multiple lenses and filters. Unlike small, point-and-shoot digital cameras, a digital SLR can be manually set for focus, aperture settings and so on. A digital SLR also has a very shallow depth of focus, so you can take shots with part of the picture in focus (like the foreground subject) with the rest of the picture out of focus.

I'm still getting the hang of the camera and am still using a lot of the automatic settings, but I'm enjoying the process. Here are some of my early shots...
