A little gynastics....

The kids and I had a day off and I thought it be fun to take them to the local recreation center to burn off some energy in the gymnastics area.

We got there about 10:00 am and the place was packed. Kids were out of school for the holiday and all the parents were looking for something for their kids to do in the cold wet weather we'd been having (little did we know how much colder and snowier it would be getting...).

About lunch time the place cleared out and Pierce and Anna had it virtually themselves. Interestingly, Pierce and Anna's diverged on what they were interested in.

They both played with the "portable" pads, but then Anna spent a lot of time building and playing on "forts" with some of the other kids.

Pierce became very interested in running on the long trampoline and catapulting himself over a barrier.

Anna has always been a big fan of trampolines and is utterly fearless on them. It didn't take long for her to gravitate to a huge trampoline located in the rear of the area.

The recreation center had special, extended gym hours during the holidays, so I'm not sure when we'll be able to make it back again. Both kids had a lot of fun, so I'll definitely plan on taking them again on the next rainy weekend.
