The Quest - Pizza Hut
For some unintelligible reason, I've been craving a good-old Pizza Hut pizza served hot in a Pizza Hut restaurant. Pierce picked up on my irrational desire, and on Wednesday night began lobbying for a trip to Pizza Hut.
Here's the catch, I have no idea where a Pizza Hut is. The ones that use to be near us all closed down several years ago. There are several take-out/delivery locations in the area; but they don't meet the current criteria.
So, we jumped in the car and Nora directed us to the last known Pizza Hut location. Which turned out to be closed, with the signs torn down. We then flipped on our Garmen GPS (which the kids have named Lola) and had her direct us to the nearest Pizza Hut (which was 5 miles away).
Of course, it turned out to be a take-out location. Ultimately we punted, and went to Old Chicago.
All this brings about the thought, what happened to Pizza Hut? They used to be the "go-to" pizza destination. I think they were one of the first places to start delivering pizza (about the same time as Dominos). Obviously, people are still going out for Pizza, so at what point did Pizza Hut fail to become the place people wanted to go? and why?
Leave a comment, I'd like to hear your thoughts.
