Cowboys and Indians

The parents of one of Anna's classmates invited Nora and me to a themed costume party. The Cowboys and Indians party was last night (Saturday) and was unbelievable. The family lives in an area of Kansas called Leawood, and its definitely one of the more upscale neighborhoods in the area. Their house must have been twice the size of ours -and we're not in a small house.

The party featured multiple open bars, upscale catering including BBQ ribs, chicken, dips, chips and desserts, mmmmmmm. There was a DJ and dance floor, with full lights, and a mechanical bull. I lasted about 10 seconds on the bull and ripped the crotch out of my costume -turns out fake leather has no traction and I slid right off the back of the bull.

Nora dressed as a cowgirl for the event and looked very cute. I do love her in hats. I decided to go the Indian route and made, rather than bought, a costume. I did a little hunting around on the web for genuine outfit ideas, bought some fake leather, and started cutting out pieces to assemble into a costume. With Nora's help on the sewing machine, we got the costume completed in one evening.

Here's the two of us in full costume:
