Last Thoughts Before Vacation
Its Thursday evening, about midnight, and we've everything packed and we're almost ready for our early flight out to the east coast early tomorrow morning. I'm in the process of burning last year's vacation DVDs to hand out during our first evening together in the Outer Banks. The effort to get the video together has been close to all consuming. Here's a little taste:
Clocking in at almost an hour, this is by far the longest vacation video I've produced. Nora and the rest of the family were tremendous sports in terms of helping me put it together (and being featured in it).
Labor Day weekend was a blast, but very busy. Saturday Nora and I had a wedding gig (we have a professional wedding videography business, www.editedmemories.com) that lasted almost 13 hours -it was only supposed to be a 6-hour engagement. That being said, we got some great footage of a very nice couple.
Sunday was sunny and warm. After a quick trip to the gym and a pancake lunch, we headed off to the neighborhood pool for a couple of hours. Once we hit the water, it was like no time had passed since we'd last been to the pool. Pierce was a fearless fish around the pool, and Anna, despite her winter-time regression in swimming, came back like gangbusters; she was swimming underwater, treading in the deep end, having tea parties and more.
Labor Day was cold and rainy (we've had a lot of thunderstorms lately -perhaps you've seen it in the news). While the weather crushed our plans for another outing at the pool, it gave all of us a chance to relax and lounge around the house. Or, if you're me, work on the Corolla video some more.
On Tuesday, Nora and Anna headed off for haircuts. This is only Anna's second haircut, and she had quite a bit of length taken off, and she is now the proud owner of bangs. When they got back, Anna ran up the stairs yelling "Do you want to see my bangs?". Its a very nice haircut and Anna definitely feels she looks very different. After showing off her haircut she asked if I was able to recognize her because of her voice.
