Easter with the Lindenbergs

We went out to see my Dad and Mary for the Easter weekend. The weather was pretty cold, but stayed clear for our drive -so we had little to complain about. It goes without saying that we had a great time. Our weekend mostly consisted of eating, with a little swimming and game playing thrown in.

We got in Friday evening in time for dinner. We went just down the road to Fridays and were seated immediately (which was good), but they had run out of milk, didn't serve non-alcoholic beer, and were out of several of the menu offerings (which was bad). But, we were all so hungry we didn't care.

We stayed at the same Comfort Inn we used for our last visit. They have a great kid's suite that's like a mini-apartment and features a separate room with bunkbeds for the kids. We spent a good few hours Saturday morning at the pool (it was much warmer than last year), and Dad and Mary got to come out and see the kids swim. Pierce's skills in the water have carried over from last summer, but Anna has regressed a little bit. She's been asking to do swim lessons this spring, and I think she's got a good point.

After spending the afternoon at my Dad's apartment, we went to the Incredible Pizza Machine for dinner. The place is like a Chucky Cheese's on steroids (to quote Nora). The food is really good (and plentiful) and the place is packed with video games, rides, skee ball, an indoor go-car track, and bumper cars. Pierce and Anna both won a lot of tickets and made surprisingly good prize choices when they redeemed them. Anna's big pic was a pair of over-size dice that light and flash when thrown. And Pierce, well he got a whoopee cushion ("Mom, would you stand up for a minute? Oh, no reason, just stand up....").

We finished our visit with a very nice Easter brunch. Unfortunately, we mis-timed things a bit. Nora and I tried to get a little food from the hotel's (complimentary) break bar into Pierce and Anna early, so they'd be able to hold out for brunch. But of course they ate a big breakfast and didn't have much of an appetite for the later buffet. No worries though, the rest of us more than made up for their lack of food interest.

We didn't need to hurry home this year, dinner with the Hundelts was scheduled for the following week, so we were able to spend a bit more time visiting and Dad and Mary's home before we hit the road. My Dad has a computer he recently retired in favor of a new one, and he was kind enough to give it to me (to replace the PC in our arcade machine). So we spent some time getting it loaded to the car. I've started getting it setup and it will allow us to play a lot more games than our last PC could handle.
