Pictures!
Its been a while since I've posted pictures. I think Nora and I look the same, but Pierce and Anna seem to look a little different everytime I remember to put pictures online.
With the change to the new Lindenberg's site posting pictures is a little easier. I'll try and get them online more frequently. Enjoy!

All the news that’s fit to print
Welcome to the new Lindenbergs homepage, www.thelindenbergs.com. Under the premise that nothing is as easy as it’s supposed to be, the move kept the Blog from being updated for a few days. So, as usual, we have some catching up to do…
Mother’s Day was a blast. Nora dropped some non too-subtle hints about her gift: an automatic ice cream maker. By non-subtle I mean she clipped the ad circular, printed consumer reviews, and gave me a 10% off coupon. After getting haircuts Pierce and I wandered over to Bed, Bath and Beyond to pick it up. Afterwards we went to the Dollar store so Pierce could pick out his own present. A few days later Anna and made a similar trip with me.
That evening, about a week before Mother’s day, I suggested to Nora that after dinner maybe we could go to Dairy Queen for some ice cream. Over dinner Nora commented to Pierce and Anna that, if they ate a good dinner, Daddy had a surprise. Pierce immediately started to pepper me with questions and so I gave him a few hints (the conversation went like this):
Pierce: Dad, what’s the surprise?
Eric: Pierce, what does “I-c-e” spell?
Pierce: Ice
Eric: What does “c-r-e-a-m” spell?
Pierce: Cream
Eric: and what does “s-u-r-p-r-i-s-e” spell?
Pierce: Surprise!
Eric: So, what do you think the surprise is?
Pierce: Mom, we got you an ice cream maker! Surprise!
Hmmm, that didn’t go as expected. Nora laughed her butt off.
At the Dollar store Pierce picked out a ceramic lighthouse sculpture that resembles the lighthouse we see on the Outer Banks when we go on vacation. Anna picked out a bathtub brush (back scrubber) with a pink hippo embedded in it. She was very excited about it –though about half way to the register she forgot who the gift was for and started claiming it for herself.
Both kids delighted in giving Nora their gifts, and each drew a card for her too. Anna quickly abducted the bath brush and yanked the hippo out of it –returning the decapitated brush to Nora later in the day.
My contribution to Mother’s day, aside from the ice cream maker, was to cook the family a big Sunday brunch complete with pancakes, eggs and sausage. After 24 hours in the freezer to cool the ice cream container, Nora made soft serve vanilla ice cream on Monday. MMmmmmmmmm.

Web Move
The Lindenberg homepage will be moving to a new location. In the future you’ll want to look for us at www.thelindenbergs.com (that’s right, we got our own domain name).
Things have been pretty quiet lately. Pierce and Anna’s swim lessons continue and each kid continues to improve. Anna’s still exerting her independence –resulting in lots of "timeouts".
I just sewed up the data warehouse feasibility study my company’s been conducting for Illinois’s State Board of Education for the last several months. We had our close-out meeting this past Monday.
Pierce played a pretty good practical joke on me the other morning. After repeated attempts to wake him up I asked him to get out of his pajamas and go potty while I got Anna up. After a few minutes I checked in on Pierce –he had climbed back under the covers and had the sheets pulled over his head. When I pulled the covers back I found a naked, giggling Pierce just waiting for me. Since then he’s played the same joke 3 more times…
Nora and I have been on a planting kick. I planted a vegetable garden and she planted lots of flowering plants in the beds that opened up when we had the shrubs removed last summer (to make room for the new backyard fence). Last night Pierce and Anna helped Nora put in a few new things while I installed a rabbit-proof mesh around the garden (hopefully it will work).
The weather in the Kansas City area has been pretty variable. We keep swinging between delightful and cold and rainy. Yesterday was gorgeous –we took advantage of the day by eating dinner out on the patio and running around the yard until bedtime. Pierce and I played a rousing game of Frisbee (he’s getting pretty good), and Anna and I played catch with a soccer ball.
